I really like Christmas. It's sentimental, I know...
And yes, I have all of the usual objections to consumerism, the commercialisation of an ancient religion to the westernisation of a dead Palestinian press-ganged into selling Playstations and beer. But I still really like it.
So it's been a while since I
last wrote a post as I've been working 7 days a week and not had the time to
post on here. But now with the holidays over, I thought I'd take a moment to
write about what has been going on.
After weeks of job hunting, I
got another freelance job with the potential of getting on full time. I was very keen on the eventual position, so I accepted and
worked there during November. The same week I also started
a job through my friend's aunt at a place in London called Bounce. It's a ping pong bar
and restaurant... yes, it's exactly what it sounds like - a place where you can
play ping pong while getting drunk and eating pizza. It's great fun and proved
very popular throughout December, especially for Christmas parties! We had
people come in from all sorts of big companies, including Twitter, Facebook,
Google, LinkedIn, BBC, Channel 4, Sainsburys, Tesco, HSBC, Lloyds TSB, Barclays
and many more. We even had Warner Brothers, Westfields and EA Sports hire out
the entire venue for their Christmas parties! As I was working 2 jobs, I ended up working 7 days a
week for almost a month. It was a bit stressful but it kept me busy so I didn't
mind too much. After the freelance contract ran out, I DID get a job offer. Unfortunately,
it was not a very good offer and in the end I decided to keep looking, which
turns out may have been one of my better decisions this year…
In either case, this meant I
worked full time at Bounce throughout December to earn some extra money before going
to Germany
for Christmas, which is where I am now. It is great to get a break, see my
family, and finally meet my lovely little niece Emily. I may be a bit bias but
I think she's the most beautiful, cutest little girl in the world! ^_^
Over Christmas, I found two jobs
I applied for and I would literally cry of happiness if either one of them
would give me a chance. As not to jinx anything, I won't go into detail about
the jobs but any crossed fingers are much appreciated! =)
Other than that I have not yet
booked a return ticket to London.
I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do, i.e. whether I’ll go back to London or
stay in Germany and apply for jobs from here until I get an interview, or do
the same from either of my sisters’ houses. There are decisions to be made but
for now I will leave the worrying for the new year and simply enjoy being home
with my family!
